Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 20, 2026
This policy explains what information Wiremark collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We take a minimal approach: the tool is designed to work without collecting personal data.
1. Information we collect
Diagram content
All rendering happens in your browser. Your DSL code is encoded with client-side compression
into the URL fragment (the part after #), which browsers do not send to
web servers — so your diagram content never reaches our servers or our logs. We do not store
or process your diagrams. Keep in mind that a shareable link contains your diagram: anyone
you give the link to can read it.
Account information
Wiremark does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information to use the editor.
Usage data
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard web server logs when you visit. These may include your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. Logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and operational purposes and are not used for advertising.
2. Cookies and local storage
Essential storage
The site uses your browser's localStorage only to remember your cookie consent
choice. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. No cookies are set before
you give consent.
Analytics cookies (optional — consent required)
If you choose to accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage patterns (pages visited, features used, general geographic region). GA4 sets the following cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
_ga_* | Maintains session state | 2 years |
These cookies are only set after you click Accept cookies in the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics does not load. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or cookies.
Google's data processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
3. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the service.
- Understand which features and pages are most used (analytics, with consent only).
- Detect and prevent abuse or security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for analytics cookies (GA4). You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for server logs, to maintain security and prevent abuse.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to processing or request data portability. Because we collect minimal personal data and do not store your diagrams, most requests can be satisfied by clearing your browser's cookies and local storage.
To exercise any rights or submit a complaint, contact us at guildmark.cloud+privacy@gmail.com. EEA residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
6. Data transfers
If you accept analytics cookies, your usage data is processed by Google LLC in the United States. Google participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. Children
Wiremark is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be announced on the changelog.
